Cloud Migration and Management in Canada

Moving to the cloud is easy to start and easy to get wrong. A lot of small and mid-sized organizations end up with systems half migrated, bills that creep up every month, no dependable way to recover if something fails, and no clear answer to a simple question a customer or auditor might ask: where does our data actually live? Cloud migration done properly answers all of that up front, so you get the flexibility of the cloud without the surprises.

Itsultant plans and runs cloud migrations for Canadian businesses and non-profits, then keeps the environment healthy afterward. We map out what to move and in what order, set it up as code so it is repeatable and documented, build in a disaster recovery plan, and keep an eye on both cost and performance once you are live. When it matters to you, we set things up so your data stays on Canadian infrastructure.

We are Canadian-owned, work remotely across the country, and favour open standards so you are not locked into one vendor. On residency we are straight with you: keeping data in Canada is a real trust and procurement advantage, and for some organizations it is a genuine requirement, but Canadian law does not force every business to store its data in the country. We plan around where your data needs to live either way.

What is included

What you get with Cloud Services

Cloud migration strategy

We assess what you run today and build a staged plan for what moves, in what order, and how, so the migration does not disrupt the work that pays the bills.

Infrastructure as code

Your environment is defined in code, which makes it documented, repeatable, and quick to rebuild, instead of a one-off setup only one person understands.

Multi-cloud management

We work across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud and match the platform to your needs rather than forcing everything onto one provider.

Disaster recovery planning

We put a tested plan in place so that if a system fails, you know exactly how and how quickly it comes back, not just that a backup exists somewhere.

Cost optimization

We right-size what you run and clear out the waste that quietly inflates cloud bills, so you pay for what you actually use.

Continuous monitoring

We watch performance, capacity, and cost after go-live and act on the warning signs before they become an outage or an overage.

Canadian data-residency option

When your obligations or your clients call for it, we set up your services in Canadian regions or on infrastructure we host, so your data stays in the country.

Why open source

Why we build this on open source

Cloud work rewards open standards. We lean on open-source tooling for infrastructure as code and automation, and we can build on OpenStack or self-hosted infrastructure when keeping full control of the environment matters. The practical benefit for you is less lock-in: your setup is defined in portable code rather than one vendor's proprietary console, so moving or rebuilding later is a task, not a trap. We are honest that the cloud bill and the engineering time are the real costs here, and open tooling keeps you from paying a licence premium on top of them.

How it works

Getting started

01

Free assessment

We review what you run now, what is causing pain, and where your data needs to live. No cost and no obligation.

02

Migration plan and quote

You get a staged plan and a scoped quote: what moves, in what order, which cloud, and how residency and recovery are handled.

03

Migrate and set up

We move your systems in planned stages to limit downtime, define the environment as code, and put backups, recovery, and monitoring in place.

04

Optimize and support

Once you are live we tune cost and performance and keep monitoring running, adjusting as your needs change.

FAQ

Questions about Cloud Services

Can you keep our data in Canada?

Yes. AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud all have Canadian regions, and we can also host on infrastructure that stays in the country. We plan residency in from the start rather than patching it on later. One honest point: Canadian law does not require every private business to store data in Canada, so we treat residency as a trust and procurement advantage, and as a real requirement for some sectors, and we set it up when it matters to you.

Which cloud provider is best for us?

It depends on what you run, what you need to integrate with, and your budget, not on which provider is trendiest. We work across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud and recommend based on your actual situation. If you already use one, we usually build on it rather than pushing a migration for its own sake.

Will moving to the cloud cost more than what we have now?

Not if it is set up and managed properly. Cloud bills climb when systems are oversized or left running unused, which is what cost optimization and monitoring are for. We right-size your setup and watch spend so you pay for what you use. We scope the work after a free assessment rather than quoting a fixed number, because the cost depends on what you are moving.

Will our systems be down during the migration?

We plan migrations in stages specifically to limit downtime, and we schedule the disruptive steps for off-hours where we can. Some cutovers need a short, planned window, and we tell you when and how long ahead of time so it is never a surprise.
